Murray (Southland) defeated Clarrie Blackburn (Auckland), before a. record crowd in the Town Hall tonight, and thus retained the lightweight championship of New Zealand. Blackburn did all the attacking in the first seven rounds, but Murray showed superior ring-craft. From tho tenth round onwards Blackburn took a great deal of punishment, but retaliated gamely, The referee stopped the fight in tho fourteenth round, when Blackburn, was almost out.
