ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
OLD MAN'S DEATH. [Per Press Association.] WAIMATE, Last Night. After sleeping only partially clothed in a half-open railway waiting shed. Peter Anderson, aged 74. an old age pensioner, believed to be single, was found unconscious, and died shortly afterwards. Deceased's papers showed he had been treated at the Ashburton hospital this month under the name of Thomas Patten, for the result of excessive drinking. The Coroner Mr E. D. Mosloy, S.M., returned a verdict that death was due to exposure, assisted by lowered vitality, consequent on alcohol and cancer on the lip.
