An official report states that the Jaffa affray was the outcome of a Labour meeting, which was disturbed by Jewish Communists. Fighting followed, and troops were summoned to restore, order, but the disturbances started again next day, when additional troops and police restored order. Altogether, thirty Jews and ten Arabs were Killed, and 170 Jews and 57 Arabs wounded. Numerous arrests followed.
