NEW YORK, May .1

Workers in a large number of Unionist paper mills in the United States, and a small number in Canada, went on strike as the result of the employers' announcement that wages would be reduced 20 per cent. The Ocean Falls and Powell River mills in Canada, from which a great part of tho Australian newsprint is exported, have ceased operations, only the day workers' accepting the reduction.
