NX BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS.

MANAWATU TO BE REPRESENTED. .Since the departure from Palmerston North some years before the war of Dr. O'Brien, interest in the sport of boxing has waned considerably. However, there are still a few enthusiasts, and as the outcome of their eagerness to revive our former reputation, Manawatu will be represented at the New Zealand championships contest to be held at Hastings on July 28. Those to don the gloves from here will be Bert O'Keefe (welter weight), and P. Gillespie (middle weight). These men are not unknown in boxing circles, and there is no doubt that they will acquit themselves well at the* tourney. Should they be successful, there is every possibility of their being selected to join the team to represent New Zealand at the Australasian championships to be competed for at Brisbane.
