SANSON FATALITY.
WARREN NEWTH ARRESTED
CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER
At the inquiry into the Sanson motor fatality, the Coroner returned an open verdict, at the same time making comment that Warren Newth, who was the driver of one of the cars, had shown some negligence. Yesterday the local police arrested Newth, and as a result, he was brought before Mr A. J. Graham, .T p „ during the afternoon. Detective-Sergeant Quirke appeared for the police, and Mr A. M. Ongley for accused, who was charged: —That on May 20th last, a£ or near Sanson, he did commit manslaughter by causing the deaths of Arthur Ernest Eglinton, Alfred Edward Penny and Frank Kidman. Accused, who was himself severely injured in the accident, appeared in Court, still showing the effects of his experience. , Detective-Sergt. Quirke asked that accused be remanded until Friday next, when in all probability there would be application for a further adjournment. , , . Mr - Ongley said he did not object to the remand, and asked that bail be allowed. Detective Quirke: I have no objection to bail. \ccused was accordingly remanded until Friday next at 10.30 a.m. Bail was allowed in accused’s own bond ot £IOO, and two sureties of £IOO each.
