A REBEL AT HEART.
SAMPLE OF AGITATOR'S LANGUAGE. SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIALIST AT MELBOURNE. MELBOURNE, to-day. Mr Kendall, organiser of the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, whose extradition it is reported the South African Government intend applying for, addressed a meeting in the Socialist Hall. He said it had been demonstrated that by industrial action they could hope, in South Africa at any rate, to come into their own shortly. They had the workers educated up to intermittent strikes, also to sabotage. Personally, he agreed with the latter. An industrial strike was really a war and every possible means must be employed. He was not adverse to murdering a scab. He hoped the Government would not extradite him. He had conformed to the laws so far, but he did not know if he would always conform to them because he was a rebel at heart, and in all probability would become a rebel in this country, but the Government must leave him alone until he violated the laws.
