AUTHOR'S ALLEGED BLASPHEMY
ST. PETERSBURG, yesterday. Proceedings have commenced agairist Maxim Gorky, novelist, on a charge of blasphemy, preferred in 1905 in connection with one of his novels. FORTRESS FOR A DUELLIST. BERLIN yesterday. The courtmartial at Metz sentenced ?4cut, Vort Lavalette Saint George to 2\ yi'Afs* confinement in a fortress and dismissal from the army for killing Lieutenant Haage in a duel in February. The court was of the opinion that defendant caused the. duel by grievously insulting Lieutenant Haage's family honour. BOMBAY DOCKS. BOMBAY, yesterday. The Viceroy opened docks costing £'4,000,000, which include a dry dock 1000 feet in length. UNIVERSITY BOAT RACE. LONDON, yesterday. The Cambridge crew, under good conditions, rowed over the course in 19 minutes 19 seconds.
