NEXT CONTEST TO BE HELD AT PALMERSTON.

Masterton, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the Brass Bands Association held this evening. 'The report showed that 29 bands .were affiliated, being an increase of five over'last year. The receipts for the year were J;108. and the expenditure .£ll2. The balance in hand is £d 3. Mr M. Cohen was re-ejected president; F. J. Oakea was re-elected secretary, and it was decided to pay him a salary of .£3O per year.

Considerable discussion took place as to where the next contest should be held. The places proposed were Gisborne, Auckland, and Palmerston North. It was decided to hold the contest in 1904 at Pahnerston, and in 1905 at Auckland. The location of the contest for 1906 was not fixed.
