The sixty-first anniversary of Nelson -Was generally observed to-day, Tho Nelson Harbour Board's dredge was successfully launched in the presence of a very large number of spectators and | * christened with the name of the first chairman of the Harbour Board by Miss Graham. The athletic and cycling sports attracted about 4000 people, and were admirably carried out. Following are the winners. One Mile Bicycle Race—Sutherland 1, Martin 2, Evison 3. . Amateur Mile—Oates 1, Whitfield 2, Mansford.3. Nelson AVheel Race, two miles— Sutherland (Christchurch) 1, McGabe (Nelson) 2, H. Holland (Ashburtorq) 3. Martin (America) and Palmer (Queensland) were unplaced in their heats. The winner was loudly cheered. Amateur Two-mile — Whitfield. 1, Oates 2, Mansford 3. . Three Mile Cash—W. Martin, 1; Palmer (Queensland), 2. Evison and Sutherland were non-starters. Won by half a length. Amateur Half Mile—Nelson Centre Championship—Maniford, 1; McCarriBon, 2; Holland, 3. Cash Five Mile — Nelson Centre Championship—McCabe, 1; Mill, 2 ; Baigent, 3. Two Mile Scratch, cash—Sutherland, 1; Martin, 2 ; Brunette, 3. Amateur, 3 miles —Oates and Whitfield, dead heat.
