RANGIOTU
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The woathor has been very unsettled of late and already winter is_ being left. A special meeting was hold m the hall to meet Mr B. J. Jacobs and Mr G. Ronnie, of the Palmerston North R.S.A. Mr J. Andrews explained that the object was to form a separate or sub-branch in Rangiotu. Mr Rerun© lully explained the position, after which Mr Jacobs addressed the gathering, 'the fol.owing proposals wore adopted:—That a. sub-bianch bo formed in Rangiotu. That a committee of five bo elected, three of the First and two of the Second Expeditionary Forces. At this juncture Mr Jacobs explained that they had dropped the title of Ist and 2nd Forces, as all returned men were ex-ser-vicemen. Tho following committee was elected:—Seniors, Messrs King. Hill and Buchanan; juniors, Messrs Jakobsen and Leg,g; chairman, Mr N. Alsop ; secretarytreasurer, Mr J. Andrews. A vote of thanks was accorded the speakers. The 1.0.0. F. Lodge at Rangiotu held a public installation of officers, when a representative gathering of members from various districts attended. Thero was also a fair number of the general public prossent, and the ceremony of installation was interesting to all. Tho gathering concluded with a danco, Tho Patriotic Society tendered a welcome home tc Tulii M. To Awe Awo, of the Maori B- | alion (28th), who has hail four years' sc_ .ice overseas. There was a largo gathering, luid duncing was indulged in, Mr N. Alsop _ being- 'ALU., and the music being supplied by Mr W. Parkins. Mr Dixon called Mr To Awo Awe to tho stage* and made tho usual presentation to him. Tho recipient replied, and thanked the local organiwtiens for the jwrcels sent to him; they lied arrived in good order. Ono of tho spoakurs was Mi; Carkeek, ami ho stated that as ono .who was interested in patriotic woi k in Otaki, ho was also pleased to hear that parcel* from the various organisations were arriving overseas in good order. j m Recent visitors from Wellington have boon Messrs D. and H. Larkins. and also Misses W. and R. Larkins. Accompanying tlfJ>m were Messrs R. and D. Carkeek, and Misses 11, and P, Carkeek, who had with thorn Miss N. Leonatil. Mrs W. K.
