PRICE TRIBUNAL CASE

(Press Assn) DANNEVIRKE, April 20 .The case was concluded in.the Magistrate's Court before Mr A. Coleman, S.M., in which Shukry Alexander, trading as Moneywortli, was charged on four informations with offering to sell goods to an inspector under the Price Tribunal at prices deemed unreasonably high. On one charge defendant's profit was 78 1-3 per cent., whereas the approved profit allowed by the tribunal was 47 to 47J per cent. On a second charge defendant's profit was 73.83 per cent, and the approved tribunal profit 42J per cent. Defendant was convicted on each of these charges and was fined the minimum of £SO each, the costs on both totalling £25 8s 4d. The other two charges were withdrawn, counsel for the department stating that it did not desire to persecute defendant now that it had been brought before the public that profiteering would not he permitted.
