CYCLE LAMP BATTERIES
"The. demands of the Armed Services for batteries lias thrown a great strain on the industry concerned in their manufacture." says a statement issued by the ■Ministry of Supply, "and civilian requirements have in no way been met, nor is - it likely they will fully be met for some considerable time. There has, however,; been an improvement in the situation and the manufacturers have delivered to the distributors 20.000 batteries. At the pros-; put time (he market could absorb at least 100.000 batteries to meet all demands. In order to ensure equitable distribution and to assist workers in essential industry who cannot get to tho shops to purchase their requirements it is deemed necessary meanwhile to continue the control of sales and i distribution. With the approach of winter regular monthly deliveries will bo made-, to distributors and. as the supply position eases, the restrictions will gradually be lifted. With the limited supplies now available preference is being given to workers in essential industry who arc compelled to use thpir cycles to or from work.
