CLOTHING SUPPLIES
The National • Garment Control Council has hold a further meeting in Wellington to consider emergency features relating to the progress being made in the provision of essential civilian garment supplies. In a statement issued to-day, Mr S. 11. Hunter, chairman of the council, pointed out that the response from industry was on very satisfactory lines and every endeavour was being made to make available to tho general public necessary supplies of essential civilian garments at economic prices which would ensure thafi all classes of the community could procure reasonable requirements. It was very pleasing to see that the garment industry was giving its full co-operation to a strong endeavour to solve the problems of clothing the people of the country under wartime conditions. He felt sure that this cooperation would be- strengthened to ensure that productive effort was guided into tho right channels. The council proposed to keep a close watch on production developments to ensure that these were planned in a wav designed to achieve the results aimed at. It was felt that, provided all sections of the community co-operated fully, the effort to ensure reasonable supplies of essential civilian garments would be successful.
