Feilding Entries. The Feilding Jockey Club’s spring meeting is to be'held on November 29 and December 1. All classes arc catered for m a well-endowed programme and particular interest will attach to the Feilding Juvenile Stakes, a two-year-old handicap event run over five furlongs. Owners and trainers are reminded that, entries for_ all events close with the secretary (Mr E. U. Cioodbehere) at 8.50 to-morrow night. Lucky Purchase.

It falls to the lot of few' moil to own a Derby winner as the first horse they have raced, but this is the experience of Mr A. Mack, of Okaiawa, Taranaki, owner of Battledrcss. The Posterity colt was unexpectedly knocked down to him for 100 gns. at the Trcntham yearling sales in 1937. Mr Maek was surprised that his modest bid for so well-bred a colt went unchallenged. Although lightly "raced, Battledress has now won five races, the last four in succession, and almost 20 times his purchase price in stakes. Mr and Mrs Mack were at Riccarton to see their horse carry the maroon and blue of Okaiawa to victory. It was their first visit to the South Island and, like their first entry to racing, highly successful.
