(Rcc. 12.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 2. j Power has been taken by the Federal Government to control till petrol j stored l>v private motorists out of their ration allowances. The Commonwealth Liquid Fuel Control Board can direct owners to use these stocks in lion of new stocks obtained on ration tickets. Official estimates say about ten million gallons of petrol have been stored bv private motorists throughout Australia. Because of the recent drastic cuts in allowances for commercial vehicles firms have turned their attention to shale petrol and some have already started erecting plants. More than 1000 taxis were withdrawn from service in Melbourne yesterday as a protest against the petrol rationing and three horse-drawn cabs provided the only door-to-door transport.
