OBITUARY.
AIRS AI. J. THOMPSON,
There are many residents in Palmerston North and Feilding who will miss a very gentle and kindly lady in file person of Airs AI. J. Thompson ,vlio passed away at her home in Milverton Avenue last Sunday. Born ncur[y 95 years ago in County Clare, Ireland, Mrs Thompson, then Alarm, Josephine Butler, went to Alelbourne with a younger sistei in 1871 to stay with relatives. A year later she left for Wellington to visit an uncle. There she married the late Richard John Thomson, who was in business in Greytown. After some lisxppy and adventurous years in the Wairnrapa, Air and Airs Thompson went to Feilding. where they lived until the death of the former 12 years ago. During these last years, Airs Thompson has lived with licr daughters in Palmerston North. Both she and her husband had always taken a keen interest in the the work of the Presbyterian Church, and though for some years her great ago has prevented her from actively participating in its work, St. Andrew’s Church has lost a very devoted and earnest member in the passing of this Christian lady. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends lias been extended to the family, which consists of Airs J. Glover, sour. (Bougotea), Airs A McDuwal) (Auckland), Airs S. L. Anderson (Wellington), Alisses 10. and A. L. Thompson (Palmerston North) and Mr R. Thompson (Registrar of the Native Land Court, Gisborne). An older son, Frederick, fell at Gallipoli in 1915. There arc eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
