MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.

The Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) presided over an attendance of about twenty persons yesterday to discuss the matter of arranging a street day to. collect funds for tlie (Missions to Seamen. The Mayor outlined the appeal and said that Funds were required urgently. He also read extracts of letters received from seamen thanking tlie mission for benefits received." “1. am sure,” said Mr Mansford, ‘‘that a street day will receive more support than this meeting has been given.” It was stated by speakers that the mission was called upon on many occasions to provide comforts for seamen, even in peacetime.
