GENERALS PROMOTED

RECOGNITION OF SERVICES. LONDON, May 30. A notice in the London Gazette announces that Lieut.-General Sir Henry Maitland Wilson has been appointed a full General and that Major-General Sir William Pratt has been appointed a Lieut.-General. Sir Henry Wilson, who is aged 59. is G.O.C. the British Forces in Palestine, and Transjordania and was in charge of the British operations in Greece. In a recent broadcast Air Churchill referred to him as being one of our finest tacticians.

Sir William Pratt was responsible with Major-General Cunningham for our victory at Amba Alagi (NorthEastern Abyssinia). He is 55 years of age.
