EVANS —RIDLEY. The wedding took place on April 2G, at the Cuba Street Methodist Church, of Gladys Jean, twin daughter ol Air and Alls J. W. Ridley, ol Palmerston North, and Keith Owen, youngest son of Mr and Airs Edward Evans, of Awanui. Tile ceremony was periormcd by Rev. M. L. Ficbig and Air L. Drake was the organist. The church was nicely decorated in white and mauve asters by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was gracefully gowned in a frock of magnolia brocaded satin, designed on classic fitting lines, with a heart shaped neckline, and lull top sleeves pointed over the wrists. Tiny bows trimmed the back of the frock, which extended to form a long train. An embroidered tulle veil to tone with tho frock was worn over her face when she entered the church, being bold in place with a pleated tulle halo and band of orange bTossom. iSlie carried a bouquet of liermis chrysanthemums, carnations and roses with maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her twin sister, Airs G. Hepburn, as matron of honour, and Aliss Dorothy AY ass, friend of the bride. They were similarly attired in gowns of white taffeta modelled on princess lines, with heart shaped necklines and I rills from shoulder to hemline. Frilled net pleating and tulle veiling made liecoming headgear. Botli carried bouquets of lilac tonings. Air AV. L. llidley and Air J. A. Ridley were best man and groomsman respectively. As tlie bride left the church she was presented with lucky horseshoes by Alilton Brogden and Morgan Thomas. The reception was held at the Jade Tearooms, where the tables were decorated in shades of mauve, cyclamen and white. Air and Airs Ridley received the guests, the latter wearing a model ensemble oi Alexican tan moss crepe with accessories and model felt hat to tone. She carried a charming bouquet of roses, chrysanthemums, and maidenhair fern. Among those present were: Airs A. L. hurness, of To Awamutu (sister of the bride). Air and Airs R. R. Ridley (Pukekohc) Airs G. Pearson '(Southbrook), Airs Alartyn (Christchurch), Air and Airs Henderson and Aliss 8. Henderson and Afr J. Bell (Stratford). The bride appeared for travelling in a model frock ol Baltic blue witli hat, accessories and tailored coat to tone. The bride and bridegroom will make their future home in Christchurch. Prior to the wedding the bride was entertained at a gift afternoon bv Alisses Afaisic Smith and Bettv Hoffor at the home of the latter. and also by the staff of the P.D.C. at a surprise evening at her own home. On l>oth occasions numerous lovely gifts were presented.
Af A RSH A LI—ST E V E N S. A wedding of interest was celebrated at the Cuba Street Alethodist Church on Saturday, April ID, when Rev. TL L. Fiebig, 8.A., united in matrimony Pearl Patricia, only daughter of Air and Airs C. R. Stevens, to Ernest John, elder son of Mr and Airs EJ. Alarshall. of Longburn. The church was tastefully decorated lor the occasion with flowers to tone with the frocks of the bridal party. The bride looked very charming in a model iroek of powder-blue wool romainc with grev hat and shoes, and carrying a shoal in deep cream and blue. The bridesmaids, Alisses Vera and Violet Osborne, cousins of the bridegroom, were attired in dainty frocks in light Mayflower with bouquets to tone. Ihe bridegroom was attended by Air IRowlands as best man and by Air lan Stevens, brother of tho bride, as groomsman. The bride entered tlie church on the arm of her grandfather, Air X. Nikolaison. of Ormondville. to the soft strains or the organ presided over by Mr Drake. At the reception Airs Stevens (the bride’s mother), assisted b.v Mrs Alarshall. welcomed numerous guests. Airs Stevens wore a black frock with gold relief, black model coat and hat. and shoulder spray in red. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a navy blue ensemble with matching hat and shoulder spray in deep pink. The horseshoe table was artistically decorated in blue and pink. Air lan Stevens capably filled the duties of toa.stmaster. the hostess adding to the enjoyment of the gathering by her rendering of- two pianoforte solos. Tho happy' couple left on their honeymoon by car for Rotorua and Taupo, the bride wearing a handsome grey coat with hat and accessories to match.
