FOLK DANCING

Airs F. Ayckbourn, of New Plymouth, Dominion secretary of the English Folk Dance and Song Society (N.Z. branch), visited Palmerston North at the invitation of Airs 13. Elphick (president ol the Palmerston North committee). Mrs Ayckbourn met local members at their weekly meeting and also at the home of Airs Phillip Flood, where she spoke to them on the history of folk dancing and music and the efforts to preserve them, and Airs Elphick also spoke on folk music. Aliss Iris Sutherland rendered Scottish folk songs, accompanied by Aliss Edna Eyre, and led those present, in old English songs. Airs Elphick thanked Airs Ayckbourn, Misses Sutherland and Eyre and Airs Flood for her hospitality.
