NAVAL SUCCESS
VESSELS INTERCEPTED. LEANDER AGAIN FIGURES. (Press Assn) WELLINGTON. ALay 11. The Admiralty has informed the New Zealand Government that the Australian cruiser H.AI.A.S. Canberra (Captain H. B. Earncomb, A1.V.0., K.A.N.) and the New Zealand cruiser H.AI.S. Lcander (Captain It. 11. Bevan, K.N.) have intercepted in the Indian Ocean a German mere lam t vessel and a Norwegian tanker which had been captured by a German raider. The German merchant ship, which had been acting as a supply ship lor the raider, was the Coburg, of 7400 tons, and the tanker was the Ivetty Brovig, of 7031 tons. Eighteen German officers and 47 German ratings were captured and are now prisoners of war, and the rescued included a number of Norwegians and Chinese.
It will be recalled that the Lcander. about two months ago, intercepted and sank an enemy raider, the Ham I. in the Indian Ocean.
