TRTIBUTE TO THE MAYOR.
(To ilir> Editor.) , J Sir,—After reading Mr Mansford’s I reply to critics in Friday night’s “Standard,” I feel T should despise myself if I remained silent. The statements made regarding Mr Mansford are to say the least contemptible. Is not a candidate who can allow his supporters to put forth statements like that, in the face of Mr Mansions ten years of service, wanting in fair play ? As a woman resident of Palmerston North for over ten years, I believe I voice the opinion of hundreds of women in the citv. I sav with all sincerity we have ever found in Mr Mansford a friend, one to help and sympathise with us in our trou-. blcs. We know of many instances]

We want a Mayor of sterling character, Godfearing, without partiality, lair to all, and of great understanding, of the problems of to-day. We sav with assurance our Mayor embodies all these qualities in his character. He is a true gentleman, and as such has no need to worry about what others say or think.—l am. etc.. A WOMAN OF PALMERSTON.
