Preparations are now well advanced for tlie building of houses oil the grounds of the former College Street ! School and tenders have already been let for the erection of five units to face College Street. The plans embrace 25 units on the whole area and Oxford Street, now a blind street leading from Eerguson Street to the rear of the grounds, is to he opened right through to College Street. Where their removal could not he avoided, trees have been taken from the College Street frontage, hut others are to remain unless it is absolutely necessary for them to he taken out. A large bulldozer was employed by the Housing Construction Department in removing the big stumps.
