UNFAIR STATEMENTS.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—lf “Another Lover of Fair Play” had taken time to road my letter accurately lie or she would have noted that 1 was not referring to remarks printed in the Press'other than those contained in the letters of the previous evening. The point which I wished to stress was the unfairness of the statements made by a certain number of people who consider themselves to be Nationalist supporters. They make these greatly exaggerated and misleading statements in any public place where they happen to be in conversation. The last place I heard this type of thing was whilst awaiting to consult a doctor. The consulting room was full and In came a mother and grown-up daughter who sat on a couch beside me and immediately commenced a conversation of rumours from the Prime Minister’s Department and made statements about Mr Fraser for which she could be imprisoned. These people are fifth columnists, for instead of trying to inspire others with faith and loyalty to our leaders who are doing heroic work under trying conditions, they are attempting to create disunity which would be very useful as a tool for our enemies. It may be interesting to note that our Government has had favourable comment in the leading newspapers of the world, notably in New York. H’o lot us be thankful for the privileges we are enjoying and for social security which will mean healthier, happier New Zealanders, and work together for victory. Ho again 1 say, awake, working people of Palmerston North, and put your representatives in the places where they can uphold and protect your interests. There are many improvements needed in this city for working people. The conditions of many of the rooni6, flats, and even houses .offered at large rentals should prove a field of investigation for any public minded city council.—l am, etc., A LOVER OF FAIR PLAY. Palmerston North, 12/5/41.
