PAHIATUA
Two well-known farmers of the district, Mr J. D. Piper, of Alakairo, and Mr J. Rose, of Kohinui, arc reported lo be seriously ill. Indications at present are that bags will be good on the opening day of the shooting season in the I’ahiatua disLict, there being plenty of ducks on the lagoons. Woodvilic haunts are said to be very thick with ducks this year. The local branch of the Acclimatisation Society liberated 55 pheasants this week. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. I’clor's Anglican Church was held on Tuesday evening, Rev. lx. T. Button presiding. In his report the vicar expressed thanks for the support given the church, which had resulted in a satisfactory state of affairs as disclosed in the balance-sheet. J his showed a- credit balancc of £lO3 9s. The election of church officers resulted: Vicar's warden. Mr J. IV. Sturton; people's warden, Mr A. NY. Hamilton; synodsman. Mr G.
