NOTES. From a statistical summary of progress presented at the Danncvirke Power board meeting by tin engineer (Mr F. O. Devlin) the following information is extract-ed:—-The number of consumers as at March 31, 3272, an increase of 65 for the year; connected load, 13,896.914 k.w. (March last year, 12.870.C60 k.w.). During the month tho services increased from 6836 to 6872. The 2731 domestic heat and light services require 6080.225 k.w., 570 ranges take 3387.564, 541 commercial heat and light services take 1712.138, and the next heaviest service group consist of 327 commercial motors which absorb 1262.584 h.p. Of other motors in u=e i hero arc 507 dairy motors, 167 shcaiing, 291 water-pump, 297 separator, and las fractional motors. When the Home Guard was on paiadc lost evening Commander Young took -exception lo an anonymous contribution which had appeared in a newspaper, and indicated the correct channel through which members were welcome to bring any subject or suggestion before thi? executive for consideration. bile the suggestion put forward might be a good one it was regrettable that the means referred to had been used to _ bring it under notice instead of making use o the orthodox channel, he said. HOME GUARD The Woodville Home Guard, unit mustered in full strength last evening, when Major Norman gave a very useful a-s well as interesting talk on the subject of protection of troops on the march and at rest. Replies to several questions enhanced the value of the address. Commander J. J. Young commended the band for its fine work on Anzac- Day, and in so doing reflected the appreciation felt by the coifipany and the general public. It was announced that a number of rifles would again be available tor the. next parade, and that a Saturday afternoon parade would take place in the near future. The outdoor exercises consisted of practice in night observations and route marching. A collection towards supplying the band with new music brought in over £3.
