Oroua Bowling Club. The Oroua Bowling Club concluded its season on Saturday Afternoon when visitors from the Feilding Club were present. The president (Mr C. llausmann) welcomed them and thanked the Oroua members for tho support accorded him. News From Greece.
Little news of the fighting in Greece lias been received privately from that country by Greeks in New Zealand in recent weeks, according to a Greek resident in Feilding. , Child Falls Out of Car.
"When returning from a trip to Stanway yesterday, the two and a-half-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs W. D. It. Baker, of Makino, fell out of a car and suffered severe head injuries ami bruises. Mrs Baker said the child interfered with the lock and the door flew open, the child falling on its head. The girl was showing an improvement this morning, but is still in hospital. The Water Supply. Though still somewhat discoloured, the water supply in the borough has shown an improvement during the pastlew days. It is understood that the question of the supply will be discussed at a special meeting of the council, when a report on a visit to the upper reaches of the Oroua River by the engineer (Mr T. K. Hay) and (Jr C. B. McClure will be presented. Rugby Football. Junior and third grade footballers were given a try-out on Saturday afternoon at Johnston Bark, when the former team were matched against Bunriythorpc in a trial game and after a good tussle went down to the visitors by 6 point to 3 (L. Silcock being the Fcilding scorer). The Bunnytliorpo team were superior in tactics, and when the competition commences they should give a good account of themselves, Fcilding also have some good now material and with training will ho able to field a, strong combination. McGi.cal and Baird are burly forwards, while Baton (wing) and Silcock (second five-eighthsK show promise. The thirds were divided into two teams and indulged in a helpful scramble. Talent is not Jacking and the selectors arc confident,
Euchre and Cribbage. Members of the Podding branch of the Labour Party and the Makino Druids Lodge held a euchre and cribbage evening, the former’s team, winning the competition.
