The hall had been brightly decotated for the occasion. Dancing was be d to music supplied by Mr 11. Brookcr. On view was the large array of fine birthday presents received by the guest ot i arid also tho birthday cake which ' v afterwards cut by Air Loach. On of the guests, Mr R, R Johnston congratulated Mr Reach on attaining the age of 21 and wished him happiness, heal ft and prosperity. l.le also congratulated Mi and Mrs Leach on all that they had done in the past for the town and district o Woodvillo. Musical honours were sung and dicers given by Air Rox Leach. Air t. C. Leach thanked Air Johnston for his kind words and also wished his son prosperity and health in after-life. He presented him with the traditional key. Mr ißex. Leach thanked his mother and I father, Air Johnston and ad those who had attended his corning-of-ago party. Visitors to Woodvillo are Airs lb W. ! Bliss, of To Aroha, and her son, Mr 1. ! Bliss. They are the guests of Mr and Airs R. A. Offwood, Ormond • Street. Among j numerous visitors to Woodvillo to participate in the coming-of-age party tendered to Air Rex Leach were Mr and Airs A. Leach of Wanganui, and Aliss M. Mason, of Wellington, all of whom wero the guests of Air and Mi's R. C. Leach. 'lhc Air Force queen committee has extended its field to Ashhurst? where a dance under its auspices will take place on the night of tho King’s Birthday (November 25). There is an excellent prospect of its enterprise meeting with a good reward. CARNIVAL SPORTS.

A brilliant aftornoon favoured the Air Force committee’s sports meeting on tho Domain on Saturday. The field and running track was in nice condition, and some interesting athletic events wero witnessed, notably in the three-quarter mile pedestrian event and the high jump, lhc first-named was won by V. Walker, the youthful athlete, who convincingly won the mile event on the previous Saturday. The finalists in the high jump were Rox Leach (sft 3in) and V, Walker (sft lin), and both were applauded for their fine efforts. With a loud-speaker in use smooth and prompt progress was made in disposing of the programme and patrons went away well pleased with the sport. Following are the results of the main events: Cycling: Half mile, M, Vowell 1. 11. Stubbins 2. Juniors: Arlidge. Running.— Three-mile: AL Walker 1, Sinclair 2. High jump: R, Leach, sft 3in, 1. V. Walker, sft lin 2; Social Security race (veterans), Al. Desmond 1, AlcGovern 2, G. Isakson 3; walk, M. Desmond 1, AlcGovern 2; greasy pig chase, P. Nicholson ;■ throwing cricket ball, V. Walker; girls’ race, 15 and under, Miss Adams 1; boys’ race, 12 and under Lawrence 1; nail driving, Air A. Leach. Alost of the prizes won were donated back to the committee.
