SCHOOL DENTAL CLINIC

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. j The committee oi the Feilding schools dental clinic met last night, there being present Mr G. J. Fit/.-, Patrick (chairman), Mrs P. G. Guy, J and Messrs C. V. Jewell, C. V. Guy, A. Eggleton, A. J. Lobb, and E. R. j Vickers. All apology for absence was received from Mrs S. McDowall. Correspondence was received from the senior dental inspector stating that the Feilding clinic had been made a two-nurse clinic permanently, and tho second nurse, Miss B. M. Peed, would take up her duties about the end of October. The chairman reported that immediately on receipt of this letter he had written to the inspector asking at what date the Convent School could be admitted to the clinic. A reply had been received to tho effect that the Convent School might be admitted at the end of the first term next year. A letter was received from Sister Augustine, of the Feilding Convent, asking what was the position. The chairman informed the committee that he had replied explaining that the committee were anxious to include the Convent School and had endeavoured for several years to persuade the department to enable this to be done, i The difficulty had been the shortage of nurses, but now this was being overcome. The committee decided to ask the chairman to again write to the inspector, requesting a speeding up with regard to the admission of the Convent School children. A circular letter from the department stated that the regulations with regard to the admission of children in the standard classes at the schools had been eased somewhat in order to widen the scope of the Clinic work. From the inspector a letter was received- suggesting that "Little Britons" might be made eligible for''treatment irrespective of the classes they were placed in at school The committee agreed to this suggestion. The chairman was authorised to purchase a proper electric steriliser for _ the clinic and to have renovations made where necessary. J
