FREE FRENCH FORCES.

INSPECTION BY KING. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug, 24. The King to-day inspected French troops belonging to the army of free J)ranchmen, led by General de Gaulle. The ceremony took place in a southern area. The King’s visit comes at a moment when, after a period for organisation, the increasing importance of these forces, which have been steadily augmented, is widely recognised. They enjoy the support of influential French circles in the United States and Latin America as well as elsewhere. They include a small but growing air force which has already actively participated alongside the It.A.F. in raids over Germany. General de Gaulle has been joined in London by Colonel Larminat, nvho was Chief of tlie General Staff of the French Army in the Middle East and who reported on the requirements of the French troop:; who left, Syria for Egypt, where they will form a combatant unit. , *
