ANTI-SPY CAMPAIGN.
UNITED STATES ACTIVITY. WASHINGTON, Aug. 4. The head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Mr J. Edgar Hoover) and the Attorney-General (Air Robeit Jackson) called on the representatives of 48 States oil Monday and luesday to report on the anti-espionage campaign. They read a message from President Roosevelt, who is expected to head a nation-wide drive. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has handled 16,885 cases sjnee the wai began and surveyed 270 munitions plants. /rl , A message from San Jose (Fosia Rica) savs the Government has ordered dykes to'be cut on extensive J apaneseowned cotton plantations in the Pacific zones, officially for drainage, but this could be a precautionary measure to render the i&reas useless for aviation.
