JURY’S VERDICT UPHELD.
Reserved judgment lias been issued in the Supreme Court in a case in which a motion for a new trial or for judgment for defendant was considered by His Honour Mr Justice Smith. The case was heard at the recent sittings of the Court at Palmerston North, J. AY. Dansby (Air M. H. Oram) being successful in an action against Messrs Gough, Gough and Hamer, Ltd. (Mr 11. R. Cooper) for damages as the result of an accident in Alain Street, the jury awarding the sum of £l2Ol JSs. Air Oram moved for judgment for plaintiff and Air Cooper moved foi a new trial or for judgment for defendant company. The reserved judgment of His Honour states that the Court cannot say there was no evidence to support the jury’s verdict and that the verdict cannot stand as being one which reasonable men might not have reached.
