MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

James Joseph Brown, labourer, of no fixed abode, came before Mr R. M. Watson, S.M., in the _ Magistrate’s Court to-day, charged with being idle and disorderlv and with insufficient means of support. He pleaded guilty and stated that he received a war pension and paid his dobt6. Defendant, stated Sergeant Turner, had been found near the freezing works at 1 o’clock this morning and had asked the nightwatchman for a match to light a cigarette. The police had been advised and an arrest made. Defendant had a lengthy list of previous convictions, and in sentencing "him to three months’ imprisonment the Magistrate said that a “clean up” would do defendant good. “When von come out in the late spring, see if von can make better arrangements for living decently,” added His Worship.
