ST. DAVID’S GUILD.

SEWING CIRCLE FORMED. Chrysanthemums, daphne and foliage decorated St. David’s Church Sunday school room, yesterday afternoon, when the Ladies’. Guild held its monthly meeting. Mrs A. Stewart, presided and extended a welcome to members and visitors. Invitations were received for delegates to attend the birthday party of tlie Terrace End League of Mothers and a meeting of the British and Foreign* Bible Society, Mesdames Stewart and R. Warnock being np-i pointed, respectively. It was decided to form a sewing circle and to meet regularly in the guild room to make clothing for the Palmerston North Refugee Committee. Pleasure was given by Mesdames K. Jones . and W. Bigham with vocal solos and Mrs A. Oppatt with, violin solos, Mrs AY. E. Anderson being the' accompanist. Shoulder sprays which had been made by,. Mrs F. Lucas were presented to' the artists and hostesses.

The speaker for the , afternoon was Mrs Major Dick, who gave an inspiring address, basing her remarks on “The God of the Fifth Sparrow.” She counselled everyone to hold, fast to their faith that all would be well in the troubled times through which we were passing. : " Rev. R. Warnock thanked Mrs Dick and Mrs Lucas thanked the artists , and hostesses, Mesdames F. McLachlan, H. E. Townshend and J. Davidson. Mr Warnock closed the meeting with a special prayer for the Empire and Allies, the National Anthem being sung. ;
