WEDDING.

BEECH—LYNCH. A family friendship existing through three generations was further cemented on Saturday, March 23, with the marriage of Mary Collette, daughter of Mr and the late Mrs 1). J. Lynch, Tane Road, Opiki, to Patrick Michael (Peter), son of Mrs and the late Mr J. P. Beech, of Pahiatua. The ceremony was solemnised by lit. Rev. Monsignor MacManus at St, Patrick’s Church, Palmerston North. The altar had been beautifully decorated by the Sisters of Mercy with gladioli. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, made a charming picture in a model frock of white satin and lace. The bodice and sleeves were quilted in a diamond-shaped pattern and finished with a dainty Peter Pan collar. The panelled skirt fell gracefully into a long train and the beautiful hand-embroidered veil, lent by a friend, was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. The bride’s bouquet was of white chrysanthemums, roses, cyclamen a.nd maidenhair iern tied with white satin ribbon.

Miss Madge Lynch, cousin of the bride, assisted as bridesmaid, looking very pretty in a full-skirted frock of apple green taffeta with short, tightfitting, puff-sleeved , coatee. She wore elbow-length white kid gloves and carried a. bouquet of autumn tinted roses, cyclamen and maidenhair fern tied with gold satin ribbons. On her hair she wore a shoulder-length veil of green net. held in place with a halo of gold flowers. Mr Kevin Beech, brother of the bridegroom, capably carried out the duties of best man.

On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe by little Maureen James, of Wanganui, niece of the bridegroom.

The wedding breakfast was held in the P.D.CI. tearooms, where Mr Cl. Greer was toastmaster.' The usual toasts were honoured, that of the bride and bridegroom being proposed by Monsignor MacManus, A toast to the bride’s grandmother, Mrs J. Lynch, who recently celebrated her S4th birthday, was proposed bv her nephew. Mr John Lynch, and enthusiastically honoured. Mrs E. Quin, sister of the bride, wore a figured frock of clover silk under a musquash coat, with clover hat and shoes to tone, and had a shoulder spray of roses. Mrs Beech, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy blue tailored suit with a lemon satin blouse and navy hat and accessories and a shoulder spray of deep cream ami pink carnations. The beautifully iced wedding cake, made and given bv the bride’s aunt. Mrs T. Lynch, was decorated with touches of green matching the bridesmaid’s frock, and was greatlv admired. When the happy couple left by ear later in the afternoon amid confetti and streamers the bride was attired in a teal blue tailored suit, with a clover georgette blouse and navy accessories to match. She also had a handsome skunk stole, the gift of her aunt, Mrs Revnolds. of Australia. The future home of Mr and Mrs Beech is to bo at Makomako, Pahiatua.
