ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.
CADET DIVISION. Following the inspection at the weekly parade of the St. John Ambulance cadets, the ambulance officer (Mr Ayson) took the boys for a short march. After this the junior boys who passed their preliminary examinations recently were taken aside and the majority of them fitted with uniforms, whilst the other cadets were given an oral test in first-aid work. This was interrupted by the arrival of Corporal Sherry and Private Bartlett, of the Medical Corps attached to the Maori Battalion, and who were the former superintendent and ambulance officer. After they had demonstrated drill, the parade was broken off for games. This week’s don’t. —Don’t give an emetic for a poison where the lips and mouth are burnt. Don’t assume a person is intoxicated because you can smell alcohol. Don’t attempt to remove a needle embedded under the skin; see a. doctor.
