Appreciative reference to the work of Air N. H. Mackio and Air J. J. Stevenson in the interests ol motoii'sts was expressed by several speakers, last evening, at a meeting of the committee of the Alalia watu Automobile Association. After the meeting Air Alackie was entertained by members and presented with a silver-plated Automobile Association mascot tor Ins car. A similar gilt lias been made to Air Stevenson, who was unavoidably absent. Eucli was also made a liie member. “AVe are losing two ol our most valuable members,” stated the chairman (Air W. H. Brown) He added that Mr Alackie, who had been connected with the association lor JO years, for seven of which he had been president, was being transferred to Wellington as Inspector-Valuer for Rural Districts. He had had the honour and pleasure of “taking the association by the hand as 11 baby and seeing it grow to run 11 hood. Iho tiict that the association was in such an excellent position to-day was main y due to the pioneer activities of Mr Alackie and others. They were extremely sorrv to Jose, him, but congratulated him on bis preferment. The chairman said that Air Stevenson had been on the committee for only one term of office, but be had taken a very keen interest in the association’s affairs A resolution was passed placing on record appreciation of the members’ services.
