EASTER ATTRACTIONS.

WEEK-END SPORTS FIXTURES. Several sports fixtures will engage the attention of Manawatu residents over the Easter week-end, while the Eeilding Jockey Club’s two-day meeting, on Saturday and Monday, will doubtless draw its usual quota of patronage. To-morrow the Manawatu Bowling Centre’s Easter rinks tournament will he entered on, the .number of entries being an appreciable advance on those of last year. The Palmerston North Golf Club’s tournament will also open to-morrow. On Saturday the Eeilding races will interest many, and the North Island (closed) amateur golf tournament, held in conjunction with the Manawatu Easter tournament, will open, this being the last important North Island tournament scheduled for the war period. This tournament is to be continued over the week-end. and both the Palmerston North Club and North Island tournaments are expected to finish on Monday. On Saturday also the Bay of Plenty (Rotorua) Cricket Association’s representative team will begin its challenge match for the Hawke Cup, now held by Manawatu, this being the second challenge received by Manawatu since they took the .trophy from the AVaikato Association earlier this year. This is the last major cricket match of this season in the Manawatu.
