HEMP AND TOW GRADINGS.
Gradings of hemp and tow- last, month show considerable decreases when compared with those for March of last year, the figures being as follow: — Mar., Mar., Dc-
Of the hemp graded last month, 106 bales were classed as good fair, 123 hales as high fair, 254 bales as low fair, 499 bales common, 368 bales rejected, a.nd 21 bales condemned.
A motion urging that, efforts bo made to set up a seed-testing station for the South Island waa carried at a meeting of the South Canterbury provincial executive of tho Now Zealand Farmers’ Union. Mr J. O. Jlav, who brought tho question forward, said that at present, too much time elapsed before results from the. station in tho North Island wore received, with tho result that trade was lost. Tho motion received strong support, and it was decided to take the necessary steps to have tho position rectified, if possible.
