QUIET TRADING.
WELLINGTON SHARE MARKET. There was a very quiet reopening on the Wellington Stock Exchange after the Enster recess. In view of tho disturbed international situation investors held off tbe market and the demand, as disclosed by the quotations list, was meagre. Prices showed little or no change on those ruling early in tli* month. Government loans were neglected, (hero being only one buying offer in yesterday’s list. Bank shares were dull, but accounted for most, of tho small turnover recorded yesterday. New Zealand ordinaries sold 3d up at 38s 3d, the D mortgage issue being unchanged at 26s 6d. National of Australasia, £lO paid, improved from £l3 8s to £l3 9s 6d. Financial, gas and insurance shares remained quiet, the only business recorded being in National Insurance, which sold one penny down at 15s 7d. Little interest was shown in Now Zealand industrials issues. N.Z. Breweries were wanted at 37s 3d, sellers holding for 38s. Loading Australian wore steady at rates in advance of recent sales in Sydney and Melbourne, G. J. Coles were firm at 80s 6d as ag-ainst business done in Melbourne on Saturday at 75s 3d.
