Savage), who returned to-day, expressed himself as verv pleased with the reception accorded Mr Sullivan and himself in Auckland, adding that, an improvement all along the line was to he seen in the factories. He expected that a large percentage of tlm men doing work ori tho No. 13 scheme would he employed in secondarc industries.
The transfer of men from public works to secondary industries would be easier than a lot of people imagined. and tliev would lie going into permanent employment that wntibl give thorn a sense of security, “'ml as we go along, it will he made clear bv the Government to einnlovers as well as employees that there is security—that it is no mere flash in the pan,” said 51r Savage.
