LONDON'S MEAT SUPPLIES.

INCREASES FOR JANUARY. London's meat supplies during- January show slight increases under all heads compared with January, 1938, according (o the official figures supplied to the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board by the London central markets. Beef and veal supplies for January totalled 21,878 tons against 21,157 tons in January, 1938. an increase of 724, tons. Argentina, with 12,552 tons, a decrease of 625 tons, was the largest supplier. Home-killed supplies at 3812 tons showed an increase of 592 tons. Australia supplied 2970 tons, an increase of 324 tons anti New Zealand 1174 tons, an increase of 72 tons. Mutton and lamb supplies totalled 12,995 tons against 11.902 tons in January, 1939, an increase of 1093 tons. New Zealand was the biggest supplier with 4588 tons, an increase of 236 tons. Australian supplies at 3529 tons showed an increase of 460 tons, while the Argentine with 1208 tons was 132 tons down on January. 1938. Home killed at 3474 tons showed an increase of 631 tons. Pork and bacon supplies totalled 4344 tons, an increase of 75 tons. Home-killed supplies were 2945 tons, a decrease of 137 tons. New Zealand supplied 592 tone, an increase of 48 tons, and Australia 211 tons, a decrease of 96 tons.
