GOOD DEMAND FOR LAMB.
The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following advice from its J/>ndon office as at at close of business last week: The market for wethers is quiet and unchanged. The market for ewes is becoming firmer owing to the small supplies available. There is a good demand for lambs for this time of year. larger supplies have caused prices to weaken. There is a moderate demand for chilled beef. Wethers, light, 3 7-8 d to 4Jd a lb; heavy, 3d to 3jd. Ewes, 2 l-8d to 3 l-3d. Lambs, 2's, 6 7-8 d to 7d; B’s, 6jd to 6 7-8 d; 4’s, 6 5-8 dto 64c!; seconds, 6jd to 6 7-3 d. Chilled hinds, 4id to 4jd; fores, 3(d to i' 2 d.
