HOCKEY.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The Manawatu Hockey Association executive held its first meeting for over six months last night, when Air K. N. Struthers was in tho chair. The other members present were Messrs H. Byers, J. D. N. McDonald, W. H. Wilson, J. Kearns, F. McLaehlan, and R. A. Brace (secretary). An opinion was sought by the New Zealand Women’s Association regarding a suggestion that an Australian team compote at the Dominion tournament to be held in Wellington during the Centenary celebrations. It was decided to hold tho letter over untd after the annual mooting. The Broadway Club suggested that, in view of the fact that hockey had been eliminated from the programme at the Olympic Games, efforts should be made to have it included in the events at tho next Empire Games, to he held in 1942 in Vancouver. This is to be forwarded to the New Zealand Association. Both the balance-sheet and tho report, to bo presented at the annual meeting, were approved. It was decided that the season’s trophies be presented at tho meeting. , An application is to be made to tno City Council for the use of three grounds at Hokowhitu Domain and one at Takaro Park. . Mr Kearns thanked the association for the consideration it had shown ladies’ hockey last season, on behalf of the Ladies’ Association.
