DR. GOEBBELS
“REMOVAL TO LESSER POST.” LONDON, Jan. IS. “It is l'reely stated that, as a result of tho recent scandals, the Minister for Propaganda (Dr Gocbbuls) will be removed to a less responsible position,” declares the Berlin correspondent of the Daily Telegraph. “There is reason to believe,” he states, “that influential Nazis have demanded disciplinary action against him, but a change is unlikely at present, as Dr Goobbels is such an important member of the Nazi hierarchy that the structure of the Nazi regime would be shaken by his dismissal. Nevertheless, the people are not unperpared for such a development.”
Prominence was recently given to stories that Dr Goebbols was admitted to hospital on December 22 after a severe thrashing, as tho outcome of his attentions to the actress, Lida Baarova. One account stated that friends of Baarova’s husband, the actor Gustav Froelieh, who was sent to a concentration camp in October after challenging Dr Goebbels because of his attentions to his wife, surprised Dr Goebbels in Froelieh's flat at night. Only tlie intervention of the Minister’s chauffeur saved his life.
