ITALIAN SUBMARINES.

20 LAID DOWN IN 1938

LONDON, Jan. 23.

Italy laid down 20 submarines in 1935, ranging from <SOO to 1461 tons, says’the Romo correspondent of the 7 ews-Chroniele.

This brings Italy’s total number of submarines to 125, adds the correspondent. The objective is 170 by 1942. The largest will carry the unprecedented number of 14 torpedo tubes.
