An exceptionally big movement of stock will take place between Gisborne and Hawke’s Buy during tho doming fortnight, the numbers involved exceeding the business done between tho two districts in any season for a long time. The demand from Hawke’s Bay, also from districts boyond, lias come at a time when Poverty Bay farmers are finding difficulty in disposing of their sheep to the "Waikato, which has been the most valuable outlet in recent years. Only a limited amount of forward buying of breeding ewes has been done by "Waikato buyers in the Gisborne district.

Sales during the past week have been on the following basis: — Sheep.—Five-year ewes, 17s 6d to 18s; six-year ewes, 13s to 15s; 2-tli. wethers, 12s 6d to 14s; 4-th. wethers, 15s to 16s 6d, Cattle.-—Yearling steers, £4 10s to £5; 2-ycar-steers, £6 5s to £6 10s; empty cows, £4 5s to £4 10s.
