A'IARTON, Doc. 15. The following players have been chosen by the selectors to practise I with a view to possible selection for the Rangitikei representative cricket team to meet Wanganui over the Christmas holidays: F. Bayiev (Taihape Railway). C. S. Beecbey (Old Boys), D. A. Cameron (Porewa), A. G. Duncan (Old Boys), W. Hayward (Huntcrville), I. Jolly (Old Boys), H. Louden Marton), 11. F. Low (Old Boys), A. B. Marshall (Porewa), H. R. Alarshall (Porewa), H. Parkcs (Marton), R. Parkinson (Porewa), R. Shield (Marton), L. Smith (Marton). H. Towers (Huntervillc) and M. AVysocki (Old Boys). Margaret' Sieely,. of Marton, secured a pass with honours in the senior grade of the violin section at the Trinity College of Music examinations.

Advice was received from the Wanganui F.dueation Board at a meeting of the Marton District High School Committee, over which Dr R. A. Church presided, that the contractor whose tender for additional accommodation had been accepted bad been instructed to commence the work at an early date. When the resignation of Ah J. B. Johnston, the first assistant, was accepted a connection with tbe’scbool covering eight years was severed. Air Johnston has accepted a position at the Ilanncvirke South School. His successor is Mr Al. O. Amadio. The appointment of Airs R. H. Fromm to the staff was confirmed. The headmaster (Mr A. AY. Tucker) reported that in the primary department the roll number was 314, the average attendance over the past five weeks being 283. The secondary roll was 103, the attendance being 92. At the annual fancy dress ball of the Alarton Junction School there was a good attendance in spite of the inclement weather. The programme consisted of singing and dancing, interspersed with choruses by pupils from Standards I and ll,' and solo dances by Elza Rankin, Rona Alurrow and Audrey Rankin. Alusic for the children was provided by Aliss J. AAilkinson and Air J. Ashton, while that for the adults tvas played by Air Ashton, with extras by Aliss J. Wilkinson, Aliss G. AlcQuccn and Miss N. Hutton. Mr E. G. Friedrich acted as M.C. The following cricket matches will be played on Saturday: Alarton v. laihape, at Taihape; Old Boys v. Porewa, at Alarton; Hunterville, a bye. The following team will represent Marton against Taihape: A. D. Fullerton-Sinith, J. Oponshaw, G. C. Birch, H. Parkes, R. Shield, D. AlcLennan, R. A. Chuch, H. Louden, N. Amon and J. Morrigan.
