STANDARD OF TENNIS.
DOMINION AND ENGLAND. A. D. BROWN’S OPINIONS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 20. The Auckland and New Zealand tennis champion, A. D.’ Brown, who returned to-day after playing in England, said there was no player in England at present, with the of Austiu, who was better than the New Zealander, A. C. Stedman. There was little between the best players in England and the best in New Zealand, though lie admitted that the standard at Home was not now as high as it had been in recent years.. All the Dominion players needed was practice with men as good or better than themselves. For that reason, Mr Brown advocated the participation of New Zealand in Davis Cup matches. Tile team should be one of young players, who were most likely to benefit by the experience; By about the fourth year we might show some result. He had not done very well in his first two months in England, but after that had settled down.
